Mumbai-based tech company SolarSquare has reportedly been in market recently looking to raise as much as $60 million. This funding will help solidify its competitive position within India’s rapidly expanding rooftop solar market. Established in 2015, SolarSquare develops, installs, and services roof based solar technologies customized for residential, residential societies and commercial end users. The company owns or operates more than 150 megawatts of distributed solar capacity. This landmark achievement across 29 cities in nine states further solidifies the company as the go-to full-stack residential solar platform.

With an annualized revenue run rate exceeding ₹10 billion (approximately $104 million), SolarSquare has established itself as a significant player in a market traditionally dominated by smaller local installers and dealer networks. These networks are often dependent on particular component manufacturers. Key players include Tata Power, Waaree Energies, Luminous Power Technologies, and Exide Industries. Venture capitalists are clamoring to get into SolarSquare’s rounds. This points to the company’s ability to capture a greater percentage of the profitable market.

These years have witnessed an extraordinary solar boom. Cumulative installed solar capacity suddenly vaulted from about 3 gigawatts (GW) in 2014 to over 150 GW, as it is on track to by 2026. This recent expansion complements India’s own ambitious target of reaching 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030. Solar is on track to account for over half of all renewable energy capacity added in total. This absolutely emphasizes the important role that companies like SolarSquare will have in the country’s energy transition.

SolarSquare has a strong residential solar pipeline to put it on track to achieve 200 megawatts of installed residential solar by the end of this year. This goal reflects the company’s commitment to meeting growing demand for sustainable energy solutions while supporting India’s overarching renewable energy targets. As more homeowners and businesses seek to harness solar power, SolarSquare’s comprehensive offerings position it favorably within the competitive landscape.

The startup’s tech-forward, customer-first approach is freeing transacting homeowners and enterprises to freely adopt solar energy solutions. By offering end-to-end services, SolarSquare simplifies the process of transitioning to renewable energy, making it more accessible for a broader audience.
