Greg Brockman Leads New Product Strategy at OpenAI Amid Reorganization

Greg Brockman, the president and co-founder of OpenAI, is taking charge of the organization’s product strategy as it undergoes significant changes. This news comes on the heels of a massive restructuring at OpenAI. It comes on the tail of CEO Sam Altman’s concerning “code red” declaration from late last year. Weaving the above together, aszi reorients his new direction under Brockman with a goal of returning the company’s attention back to improving the overall ChatGPT experience.

This Simo has been on medical leave, giving Brockman this leadership happening as OpenAI’s former head of product strategy. Despite Simo’s absence, he and Brockman have collaborated on these changes in strategy prior to Simo’s leave. OpenAI’s strategy is currently being massively reshaped. This move is in line with a string of changes the company has made since Altman’s last-minute plea to change course.

During a short, recent federal court appearance in Oakland, California, on April 30, 2026 Brockman emphasized the need for targeted initiatives. His company needs to be agile enough to respond to her rapidly changing circumstances.
