The latest generation of startups have exploded from Betaworks’ most recent startup camp. This new wave of disruptive, innovative solutions are revolutionizing industries from head to toe. The camp culminated in the live introduction of ten amazing companies, each one addressing novel challenges from sustainable footwear production to advanced cognitive technology.

One of the excellent participants is Presq, co-founded by Adam Saleh, Steve Burstyn and Mikey Robins. This innovative company provides an avenue for influencers to upload data that results in prompt options for manufacturable footwear. Through the power of influencer engagement, Presq seeks to transform the shoe design and production process.

Nubrain, co-founded by Priyanka Jain, PhD and Ingo Marquardt, is on a mission to eliminate barriers of communication. And through their research and innovation, they are creating EEG technology capable of converting human thought into speech, text, and imagery. This new and creative application of AI might just open up incredible opportunities for people with speech impairment or other forms of communications disabilities.

Perhaps the most high-profile of these startups is Telepath, founded by Stephen Hood, Josh Whiting, and Rupert Manfredi. Telepath is designing a new kind of computer from the ground up, artificial intelligence with zero apps. This idea is to foster deeper engagement among users and more intuitive interaction with technology to create a seamless experience.

Putty, the studio founded by Kevin Chang, is all about developing “memory systems” and “ambient interfaces”. The organization is focused on creating technology that keeps up with today’s fast-paced, ever-changing way of life. This paradigm allows users to interact with their devices in an intuitive, fluid manner.

My Place, developed by Helen Huang under the umbrella of Orange, offers users realistic simulations of everyday human life through interactive games. Through animations and interactives, this startup aims to create meaningful experiences that capture the nuance of real life.

Intension, created by Conor Sanchez O’Shea and Gabriel Duemichen, connects to the desktop computer’s camera and microphone to keep users centered and engaged. By removing distractions and taking fear out of the equation, Intension hopes to increase creativity and ultimately the quality of work for people in any profession.

Nora, produced by Sid Banothu, crochets a browser extension that follows shopping habits to illustrate the ways consumers are tracked. This creative model would allow potential users to take an informed purchasing decision influenced by their spending habits.

To address these needs, Kasey Klimes has created a lightweight product that works with Notion, Google Calendar and other productivity tools. This innovation increases user productivity and simplifies their workflow. The capacity to connect various productivity platforms could simplify workflows for employees in a wide range of fields.
