That change had professionalized the chatbot’s tone, making it seem “too sycophant-y, warmer and friendlier,” according to user feedback. This decision is in direct response to a record-setting wave of complaints. Most users agree that the new model is more distant and less approachable than the old one.

These recent imbroglio about ChatGPT’s tone have sparked a broader debate this year. Users were not happy with the change, which clearly aimed for a more cordial, friendly answer tone. But under the hood, a significant number of folks felt like it went too far. In turn, users found it nearly impossible to have simple but real interactions.
