>Maka Kids has some big news to share! They’re building a streaming platform tailored to children ages zero to six, prioritizing content that helps their minds and bodies flourish rather than simply distracting them. The app revolutionizes screen time for little ones. It aims to improve their health and development outcomes, rather than merely counting watch time. Co-founders of Maka Kids, Tanyella Leta and Isabel Sheinman, bring deep backgrounds in education and entrepreneurship. They are out to build the greatest family media experience on earth.
The subscription-based service will be $11.99 per month, but there’s a discounted annual plan that should appeal to parents. The Maka Kids app directly addresses the seven foundational domains of early childhood development. It features a handy map of over 650 developmental indicators, so you can be sure what you’re reading is just right for your young child’s growing mind. These domains include language development, creativity, emotional skills, and fostering a growth mindset. These are key areas that contribute to a child’s overall well-being and preparedness for future challenges.
Since founding the company nearly six years ago, Maka Kids’ founders, Leta and Sheinman, have poured their hearts into filling a huge under-represented void in children’s media. They pointed out that unlike most current platforms, which cater to adult audiences, too frequently, they just add a kids’ experience on as an afterthought. She and her team held hundreds of user-testing sessions with parents. Their aim was to gain a deeper understanding of parents’ needs and frustrations regarding children’s screen use.
“We were seeing parents get completely overwhelmed trying to weigh decisions about what was unsafe, what was good, and understand why their kid was melting down every time screen time ended,” said Isabel Sheinman.
This reality led to the development of a really cool, interactive app. It’s a great way to entertain, educate and inspire the next generation of STEM innovators! All the content within the app, according to Tanyella Leta, is designed to reinforce critical skills that children should learn at a young age.
“Stories can support language development, emotional regulation, curiosity, and give kids a sense of how wide the world is,” she explained.
Maka Kids recently raised $3 million in pre-seed funding to scale its platform and expand features and curriculum to serve even more kids. The founders’ vision is clear: they want to establish Maka Kids as a trustworthy source for children’s media that parents can rely on.
“Longer term, our vision is to become the trust layer for every digital experience children have,” Sheinman added.
Maka Kids is currently open for waitlist signups. Sign up today to be one of the first families to explore this exciting new frontier in kids streaming content! Herba’s company is based on the premise that magic things happen when we prioritize our well-being. In doing this, they hope to encourage healthier media use practices from a very young age.
