Aura, a company known for its elegant digital photo frames, just announced its new top-of-the-line $299 Aspen frame. Aura, which was co-founded by former Twitter employees Abdur Chowdhury and Eric Jensen. It’s their mission to change the way that families and friends share their most important memories in their homes. The Aspen frame represents a big step in a new direction for the company. It’s a fulfillment of their promise to provide stylish and improved products to showcase digital pictures.

The versatile Aspen frame, now offered in a 7” wide size, is practical and chic enough to go anywhere. “It has an incredibly slim profile, only 0.5 inches thick at the edge. At just 4.3mm thick, this makes it the company’s thinnest offering to date. Offered in two elegant colors—Ink and Clay—this frame blends easily into any environment. Aura handpicked the finest materials for the Aspen. A slim, minimalist metal stand, paper-textured matting, eye-catching decorative trim, and a cabling with smart fabric-wrapped finish only add to its flair.

Aura’s commitment to quality extends beyond hardware. The software that comes with its frames is a big part of the user experience. Its consumer-facing mobile app has gained more than 6 million users. It is super simple to keep track of the photos showed on the frames. This software isn’t just an afterthought though – it’s a core part of Aura’s plan to improve customer experience.

Every day, Aura frames together showcase nearly 5 billion pictures and videos. This remarkable number is a testament to the increasing trend of digital photo sharing among consumers. In fact, Aura’s annual sales for 2024 were significantly bolstered by social networks built around sharing photos among families and friends. About half of revenue was due to this fad, demonstrating the power of the sharing community when it comes to images.

Aura customers shared a staggering 784 million photos to their frames last year alone. This represents a jaw-dropping 55% increase over last year! This explosive growth is a testament to just how impactful Aura’s products are. It points to the broader societal shifts in how and where we decide to store and share our memories.

The Aspen frame adopts unique features that maximize its functionality. The ambient light sensor senses when the room darkens at night. To reduce energy consumption, it automatically turns off the frame when not in use. A secret touch bar located across the top of the frame allows users to quickly scroll through their photos and customize settings. This smart design decision stops fingerprints from messing up the display and demonstrates Aura’s dedication to improving user experience.

The Aspen frame gives you the option of typing captions on your photos. This effect provides a unique and visually stunning display, adding a personal touch to each image. This added functionality enhances the sharing of visual storytelling, enabling users to take greater creative license while customizing their captured memories.

Aura’s trajectory looks bright, with the company on track to reach profitability this year and maintain its upward growth momentum. Aura’s success is instead powered by a deep, $60 million investment in growth capital from the LAGO Innovation Fund. This new funding will allow Aura to continue growing its operations and advancing its product offerings.
