Tangle, a brand new social app, is changing the way users interact on social media. It enhances the human element, underscores distinguished intentions of people, and creates powerful relationships between people. Tangle subsequently released an invite-only version in November. It encourages users to think about their purpose or aim for each day with the simple question, “what’s your intention for today?” This user-centric approach seeks to create a more civil and productive digital public square than that which often defines the social media landscape.
Tangle gives users the ability to post their goals and dreams to friends. This leads to an encouraging community that promotes individual development and genuine connections over shallow engagements. Evan Sharp, CEO of the company behind Tangle, believes this innovative concept could address some of the negative impacts associated with social media usage. One of the more interesting questions he raised in his address was how we can create a new digital space to contribute to positive change.
“What could I build that might help address just some of the terrible devastation of the human mind and heart that we’ve wrought the last 15 years?” – Evan Sharp
The scientific accomplishments of the startup are matched by its financial successes, having raised $29 million in funding, led by Spark Capital during its seed round. It’s a strong vote of investor confidence that undergirds this funding. It showcases Tangle’s ability to find a unique product-market fit in the very competitive social media universe. The financing will be used to advance development in anticipation of a wider, public launch.
Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, is affiliated with Tangle, making it credible right from the start. Stone emphasizes the app’s goal of helping users “plan with intention, capture the reality of their days, and see the deeper threads that shape their life.” This approach perfectly complements Tangle’s goals of putting mental health and community care first.
As Tangle develops further, please note that it will likely look quite different before its eventual public launch. The company is currently focusing those efforts on a related project, West Co. They haven’t shared much detail about exactly what this challenge will look like …
Tangle’s longterm effect on social media conversation would have to be evaluated. It’s special methodology encourages purposeful community building. This makes it a great alternative for anybody who wants a more intentional online experience. Users would be wise to keep an eye on Tangle as it tries to expand its audience. Tangle is constantly improving its features to create an even better user experience.
